Winchester® WM Series 12x25 Monocular

The Winchester® WM series 12x25 monocular is lightweight and can easily be slipped into a vest or coat pocket while hiking or hunting in the woods. In addition to it features high-quality optical glass and a durable rubber armor body with a ribbed surface for secure handling. A carrying strap and zippered case are also included.

It's a very sturdy product. I remember trekking to the mall and losing it somewhere along the way. I had dropped it on the sidewalk whilst running to catch up with someone; considering nothing had broken or cracked, it's definitely a reliable product. However, I do find that it's not much of a monocular in most cases. If you're an avid birdwatcher, which I am, than you might find it useful for its ability to fit in the pocket of your casuals(can't be unprepared, in case you run into an eagle on a trip to the grocery store!), but unfortunately, unless you're within a specific range of your target, you're not going to see much. On occasion, I've been able to identify a bird I couldn't have without the monocular. But for the most part, it doesn't really tell you anything your eyes couldn't have at that distance. Still, I have had a lot of fun with this thing. Although it doesn't give you a lot of information, it does give you a clearer picture of something farther away, and that's very useful if you're a fan of the great outdoors.

This is a nice monocular with slightly better-than-average quality. The optical quality is good and the focus adjuster has a positive stop at both ends which prevents the eyepiece from spinning around and around until it finally becomes unscrewed. The monocular itself has only one drawback - the cord lanyard that is attached is long enough to wrap around your wrist, but too short (and too small) to drape around your neck. The worst thing about this item is the sheath / belt holster. The belt loop is a small piece of leatherette (ie fake leather) stitched to the back of the sheath. It will only fit a thin belt. Can't carry it around your neck...can't carry it on your belt...means it gets stuffed in the side pocket of your pack so it's not handy when you want it. I guess you can put it in the front pocket of your cargo pants. Be prepared for a funny look from your spouse.
